Dimethicone
INCI: Dimethicone
Dimethicone is a substance derived from silica (sand is a silica). The unique fluid properties of silicone give it a great deal of slip and in its various forms it can feel like silk on the skin, impart emolliency, and be a water-binding agent that holds up well, even when skin becomes wet. It is a medium viscosity clear liquid. It is used in hair care application such as conditioners and in skin care applications such as lotions and creams in a typical use level of 1-25%. Dimethicone has a viscosity of 190.0 to 210.0 cst. It is equivalent to Dow Corning 200 Fluid, 200 cs.
RECOMMENDED ADDITION: 0.5-2%
The addition of Dimethicone to the shampoo base will yield an opaque medium conditioning shampoo.
To a 1 gallon shampoo bases for 1% recommended addition, add 37.78g or 7 ½ tsp
